In fact Beccy proved to be highly creative at her next school, Pipers Corner in High Wycombe where she boarded in 1991. Here she found an atmosphere conducive to developing herself. She would not describe herself as “academic” but the feedback from her teachers was much more positive. Her interpersonal skills and charm made her many friends, who have proved lasting ones.

Clearly very photogenic, her father delighted in photographing her in different locations and costumes.

Though not as upset as her older sister, the break up of her parent`s marriage did not come at a good time for a child of her age and her relationship with her father took a little time to reassert itself. A naturally affectionate and warm person, she probably missed a male role model for a while.

After finishing school in Malvern, she worked in Winchester, living with her cousin Alex and working in his up market shop “Cadogans” where her sales and managerial skills were honed. 

In 1999 she met and married Robert (Rob) Burgoyne. She planned and executed an incredibly detailed wedding plan that went like clockwork apart from the vicar being difficult and the wrong car arriving. (Right) 

In 2002 she took a deep breath and submitted a business plan to NatWest for
£90,000 financing of a new Cadogans in Clifton in Bristol. She got the backing and opened a very well designed shop on two floors, with a basement. She met her profit targets (and proved she was anything but average!)  Selling, marketing, personnel manager and bookeeper ... she did it all with style and it is clear her customers liked what they found.

The next few years were tough. Her marriage founded and whilst all went well with the business, with year on year growth on target until 2006, trading conditions began to go down and she sold the business in early 2008, luckily before the 2008 recession kicked in.

She has been lucky to have an amicable divorce without children involved (but an emotional one) and to find Roy Winters (who plays second row for Bristol Rugby) to whom she is now engaged with a wedding scheduled for 2009. He is a giant of a man, protective and generous to a fault. We all wish her happier times.
