Present at his parents house at 11 Harley Street at 1861 census as aged 21 and a seal engraver. He appears again at 1881 census at aged 41 with is wife Sarah at 39 Blenheim Street, Chelsea as a signwriter. Living with him are his children Ada (18) as juvenile millner and Alfred N.J North (14) messenger. By 1901 he was living at 48 Godfrey Street, Chelsea as a painter and grainer with Sarah. By then Ada was miising from the census but Alfred N.J was still at home as a paraplegic.
