WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR
Donald was in the US Coast Guard serving on ships in the North Atlantic (1943)and Pacific (1944-1945).
After the war he was an engineer with Pratt and Whitney where he designed jet aircraft engines. He went on to work for Babcock and Wilcox where he was involved with the design of fuel rod assemblies for nuclear reactors. He designed the fuel rod assembly for the “NS Savannah”, which President Eisenhower ordered to show the world that nuclear energy could be used for peace. He holds a patent for this design.
